Metric, US and UK units, converted instantly.
This converter uses exact international definitions: one inch is exactly 25.4 millimetres and one pound is exactly 0.45359237 kilograms. US and UK units are listed separately because they differ. A US gallon is about 3.785 litres while a UK gallon is about 4.546 litres, and a US pint is 473 ml against 568 ml for a UK pint. Data units use decimal prefixes, so one kilobyte is 1,000 bytes.
When cooking, remember that a US cup is about 237 ml while a metric cup is 250 ml, and a UK pint is larger than a US pint. Temperature conversion is not a simple multiplication, so use the converter for Celsius and Fahrenheit. For engineering work, keep extra decimal places and round only at the end.
They come from different historical definitions. The UK imperial gallon is about 20% larger.
Using formulas, not multipliers: F = C x 9/5 + 32 and K = C + 273.15.
