About this image compressor
Large photos are slow to upload and are often rejected by forms that allow only 50 KB, 100 KB or 200 KB files, which is common for exam applications, job portals and ID uploads. This tool re-encodes your image in the browser. With a target size, it searches for the highest quality that fits, and scales the image down if even the lowest quality is too big. Nothing is uploaded, so it is safe for personal photos and documents.
How to use it
- Add one or more images.
- Set a quality, or enter the target size in KB.
- Press Compress images and download each file or the ZIP.
Tips and good to know
For web pages, JPG or WebP at 70 to 80 percent quality usually looks the same as the original at a fraction of the size. For forms that demand a size limit, set the target in KB and add a max width if the file is still too large. Keep the original image in case you need higher quality later.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the result sometimes larger than the target?
Very small targets may be impossible for large images. Add a max width to shrink the dimensions too.
Does it keep transparency?
No. Images are saved as JPG or WebP with a white background.
